The Red Brick Center for the Arts began as a grass roots group of citizens interested in furthering the future of the arts in Westlake and in preserving the “Old Red Brick” schoolhouse on Dover Center Road.  Our organization, then called the “Committee for a Westlake Arts Center” formed in June 2005 and quickly gained momentum and members.  In August 2006, we incorporated with the state of Ohio as the “Red Brick Center for the Arts”.  In February 2007, we received our non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service.

At the Red Brick Center for the Arts, we believe in sharing the transformative power of the arts with people of all ages and skill levels, and in building strong relationships with other fine arts organizations.  Our goal is to create a comprehensive arts education center located in Westlake's oldest surviving public school building, the Red Brick, on Dover Center Road.  This innovative arts education hub will enrich lives, strengthen our neighborhoods, and boost our local economy.
